Children’s Health

Life is complicated enough, so ensuring your child is strong, fit and healthy is vitally important. Making sense of the world as an adult can be tough and children find it especially difficult to explain how they are feeling. This is why having a calm, unhurried appointment with a caring, familiar family doctor can prove invaluable. Rest assured that your concerns will be listened to, carefully considered and never patronisingly dismissed.

Dr Tickle has many years’ experience of looking after children and is happy to see you and your baby, young child or adolescent for any health issue, such as:

Growth and development

Dr Tickle recommends regular Child Development Checks to make sure your child is growing and developing physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. During this 30-minute appointment we take a raft of measurements, set tasks, discuss your child’s health needs and expectations and any concerns you may have.

Weight, nutrition and fitness

We firmly believe that children need to run around every day for optimum growth and development. If you have concerns about your child’s eating habits or leisure activities, we are here to help.

Illnesses and infections

Feel reassured that common childhood illnesses such as ear aches, rashes, throat infections and stomach upsets are dealt with promptly and effectively.

Diseases and vaccinations

We tailor your child’s vaccinations to their country of origin to ensure they are properly protected. Please see the UK vaccine planner for guidance on the recommended vaccinations for your child.

There are additional vaccinations such as the chickenpox vaccination and some vaccinations against meningitis disease. Meningitis W vaccination, recommended for teenagers, is available now. All Bexsero stock (Meningitis B vaccination) is now temporarily discontinued and we are sorry we cannot offer this just now.

School and family life

Forming friendships, integrating with peers and building healthy sibling relationships come naturally to some and less so for others. If you have any concerns, please say.

Emotions and behaviour

Childhood can be a rollercoaster of emotions and what’s ‘normal’ varies enormously. Dr Tickle offers expert health advice delivered in a wonderfully calm environment.

Stress and depression

Sadly, depression among children is on the increase. Have the peace of mind that you and your child are being truly heard. We have a visiting counselling psychotherapist who is skilled in child development and functional assessments for ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia, among others.
